Monday 22nd February saw Mrs Betty Coulter have hip replacement surgery at St John of God hopital in Geelong. Greg Coulter reports that she is doing amazingly well and that she begins rehabilitation today (Friday) in Geelong. A card has been organised and will be sent as soon as possible. We wish Betty a speedy recovery.

Interplast is a not for profit organisation that sends teams of volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professions to provide life changing surgery and medical training in 17 countries across the Asia Pacific region. Mr Alan Richardson spoke recently in Mt Gambier and Secretary Sue proposes that he be asked to come and present at one of our meetings. This was quickly agreed upon and Sue will follow this up. For further information on Interplast, please look up www.interplast.org.

There will be a public meeting at the Casterton Bowls club on Monday 29th February beginning at 7:30pm, about placing a low level weir in the Glenelg river, to back an amount of water up for when water levels in the river are low. It was put to members that because our Rotary Rest Point park will be affected by this, we should have representation there. President Darren will be attending the meeting and will report back at next meeting. All Casterton residnets are encouraged to attend.

An information pack arrived regarding the 2017 National Youth Science Forum. This information will be forwarded to Wally Walsh so he can seek out a suitable candidate, like Rory Speirs, who was our candidate this year. Rory will be doing a presentation on his experience at the forum on 10th March at our meeting.

President Darren will follow up with AG Lorraine Wilson or DG Jane Cox regarding any local Rotary contributions that are being made to the relief effort in Fiji after the devastating cyclone last week.

Kaye to follow up with Dallas Escott and her daughter Prue, regarding donations or assistance with postage etc to Fiji. Prue makes regular donations to Fiji of general items and they are distributed straight to people in need (and don't get lost along the way or in red tape). Both Darren and Kaye will report back next week with further information.

Kaye reported that a letter was sent to the Kelpie Association mid last year regarding the Rotary Club of Casterton using the Kelpie Association logo on Rotary flags. Karen Stephens is looking into this and we should have a reply shortly.
The cost of the small flags from RDU is $13 each but a minimum of 100 must be ordered. Hip Pocket in Mt Gambier quote $16.50 each with a minimum of 50 flags ordered. Kaye will continue to follow this.

The Men's Shed has started the construction of the Easels we obtained a grant for. The easels will display the artwork at the Acquisitive Art show on the Kelpie muster weekend in June. They will each have a small engraved plaque, with wording of these plaques to yet be decided. Signs will be made recognising the Casterton Men's shed and the grant from the Glenelg shire and will be displayed at the Art Show.
When the easels are finished, a photo for publicity will be organised.

Peter remind sus that next weeks bbq with the Hamilton North Rotary club would be a perfect opportunity to bring along any potential members, partners, friends or family. Hope to see lots of people there smiley

That's it until next week....
