A meeting was held with Karen Stephens regarding our involvement in the Kelpie Muster activities. Our Rotary club will again host the Acquisitive Art show, but this year it will be held in conjunction with the grand opening of the 20th Anniversary Kelpie Muster.
Karen confirmed the resignation of the Kelpie Association's president Rod James and the resignation of his wife Ann James. Ann was the main organizer of the art side of the Acquisitive Art Show. This huge responsibility has been handed to, and will be shared by Karen Stephens (promotion/publicity) and Sharon McGrath (art display/coordinator). Ann has had huge input to the art show over the past 6 years with the Rotary Club and we want to recognise and thank Ann for this. It was put to a vote that we invite Ann to dinner to show our appreciation on a date to be set after the Kelpie Festival.
Helene Ruma has been confirmed as the artist in residence and judge at the Acquisitive Art show. Karen informed us that Helene will be producing the invitations for the event, which takes that responsibility from us. Darren will forward the Rotary logo to Karen to be passed on to Helene for the invitations.
The previous 5 winners of the first prize will be on display on the night. It was decided that they will be displayed in the foyer for everyone to appreciate on their way in. They will then be moved into the hall for the remaining weekend. Karen will ensure all entries are there for us.
Karen has formulated a letter to all the officials, sponsors or representatives outlining all of the activities running over the weekend, including the opening night celebrations.
The Rotary Club will be responsible for the catering (hors d'oeuvres), drinks (winery to be organized by Sue K), easels/screens/set up/pack up and something new this year, a packers prize.
The packers prize will be organized by the Rotary club and will be presented on the night with the other prizes. The Kelpie Association has organized all other prizes, which this year will be trophies made by Darryl's Glass. The winners tags will not go onto the artworks until after the presentations, unlike previous years.
It is hoped that there will be a special guest to do the official opening of the Muster, but this is still to be confirmed, so watch this space.
